One of the highlights of my year is a visit to the Reading University Art degree show – it’s brilliant to be able to see the art some of these students have produced during their training, and to wonder where they might end up. You could be looking at the next Rembrandt or Damien Hirst taking their first steps into their art career.
But what about the artists who are already well known? Have you ever wondered how their art developed to the point they’re at now? Well now you can have a look! The Royal College of Art have made their collection of student work available online for free via the Visual Arts Data Service (VADS). They’ve taken three years to transfer 5000 key pieces of their huge collection into a digital format. Along with the Royal College’s main collection, also available on VADS, it’s a really great resource, and inspiring for any aspiring artist.
