Funding Cuts to the Arts: What will it mean?

So, it’s now been a week since the government announced it’s program of funding cuts to almost all aspects of public life, including the Arts.  In the run up, concerns were raised about what this will mean for the arts in Britain.  Although lots has been written, and will be written, about what these cuts will mean in the long term, I thought I’d summarise the general responses, and then give you a few links for you to find out more yourself…

Fourth Plinth Shortlist Announced

I love the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square – I think it’s a great idea putting something contemporary and stimulating in a position where thousands can see it.  I’m a big fan of Yinka Shonibare’s Ship in a Bottle which is there at the moment (go see it!).

And now the Commissioning Group have announced the six proposals they’ve shortlisted to replace Ship in a Bottle when it’s replaced at the end of 2011.  See what you think…
